30" Heavy Oct. BBL; case hardened receiver; thumb release falling block; MVA sights w/rear tang flip up target sight w/globe front sight; like new condition; includes a set of .38-50 reloading dies; "I purchased the rifle in 1994 and it was in very poor condition. It was chambered in 38-40 Rem when i aquired it. In 2005 or 2006 I sent the rifle to Ballard Gun Works in Cody, WY for restoration. I had it chambered in 38-50 Rem, the new barrel was from Badger. My bests loads were using .377 dia. bullet over FFF black powder. Bullet used was 1:25 cast from a Lyman mould. 249 gr. bullets shot fair but 335 gr. was much better. I used a card wad over powder topped off with a grease cookie. Using a compression die the powder was compressed .080. The rifle shot very well and I was very competitive with it. I never tried the IMR4198 load on the enclosed load sheet. I was going to contact Hornady and disucss using 5744 with them. Cases were purchased from Buffalo Arms in Sandpoin, ID. I am selling this rifle due to issues with Parkinson's disease and I hope you enjoy owning and using it as much as I did." SN#6737
