Firearms may be picked up immediately after purchase if the buyer passes the background check and is 21 years of age or older—no waiting period is required in this case. Under new federal regulations, buyers under the age of 21 are subject to an automatic three-day waiting period before taking possession of a firearm. Curio & Relic (C&R) licenses will be accepted for applicable firearms. South Dakota residents with a valid Concealed Carry Permit may use their permit as proof of purchase; however, a 4473 form must still be completed. Buyers must be at least 21 years old to purchase a handgun and 18 years old to purchase a long gun. All firearms must be paid for in full before a NICS background check is conducted. If a buyer fails the background check, the firearm will be resold in the next scheduled firearms auction, and regular commissions will apply. A background check is required for all firearms unless specifically stated otherwise in the item description.
