Ralph has a note with this plate "1905 MN Lake Prairie Township", issued to a 1903 Buick, owned by the state Boiler Inspector", brass tag reads "Andrew Young, St. Peter, Minn" with is original star badge that has "State Boiler Inspector 20th Con Dist.", measures 6"x8", very clean and nice leather with great alligator texture; copper or brass lettering, just the right amount of patina; if there is a HOLY GRAIL for MN License plate collectors, I'd think this is it!

2 3/8" across, on March 21st, 1905, the first three vehicles ever registered for license were issued in the state of SD. This is the #3! It was issued to Dr. AV Elliot of Beresford, SD for is 5hp Olds with a bell & lights, some wear, but we have not cleaned it or highlighted it, condition is very good; This and the next dozen or so plates came from a local family that's father collected the plates that came with their cars; this disc was attached to a dash of a Model T he bought back in the 1970's and has been in there family for over 50 years. The most significant piece of South Dakota Automobile History we have ever had a chance to offer!
